Youth mentorship and positive engagement

Focus area 02

Violence prevention & community safety.

Strengthening the community response to violence through prevention, positive engagement, mentoring connections, and coordinated resource pathways.

Prevention through connection and collaboration

Our OJJDP planning materials describe a collaborative approach to strengthen the response to children exposed to violence in homes, schools, and neighborhoods. The work emphasizes bringing together youth programs, violence-prevention expertise, child and family support services, and a local public-school perspective.
